The 2010 National Karate Tournament kicked off in the central province of Quang Nam on September 8.

The event was co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee as part of the 6th National Sports Festival.

The tournament attracted 244 athletes from 33 provinces and cities across the country, including 46 from the national Karate team.

They are competing for 22 sets of medals in different weight categories in the men’s and women’s events.

The tournament, which will last until September 12, aims to create an opportunity for Vietnamese martial artists to improve their skills and take part in cultural exchanges.
