How to Promote Your Martial Arts School Website

Tips, Tricks, and Tactics for attracting visitors.

It’s estimated there are over 500,000 searches for the term “martial arts” each month in google alone, not to mention yahoo, ask and live. Don’t forget about variations of this search term or other related words…the market is huge.

No matter how good your martial arts school website is, it doesn’t do any good if these people can’t find it. First, find all the martial arts school directories that you can and get your school listed. For schools with some disposable marketing funds, most major search engines offer a local advertising service. You have to pay for each click, but your add will only show up for people who are searching for schools in your area…it’s a very targeted market.

Bing Local Advertising – http://advertising.microsoft.com/search-advertising?s_int=160

And here’s an excellent article on how to setup a local advertising campaign.

Are there any other websites that people in your area use? Maybe you know a teenager who lives and dies by Facebook. Would they be willing to put an advertisement for your school on their profile? Maybe they’ll link to one of your videos on youtube.com? Now word is spreading at your local middle-school and high-school.

Are there any parks in your area? Sometimes major parks will have a website where you can list events, such as a free self-defense class. List this free class on Craigslist.org as well.

Or even hold a demonstration along side another major event and pass out flyers. Make them small (easier to carry or put in their pocket), highlight your website for them to visit later and offer them something (like a free class). People throw away junk flyers, they don’t typically throw away coupons.

As you begin to develop a web-presence for your school, keep asking yourself the question “Where does web-traffic come from?”. The answer is “everywhere”, so don’t limit yourself.

Keep looking for places where people in your area might be lurking and who knows what you may find!
